00/01 2.5rs?
I live on the eastside(pullman) for school and was wondering if anyone over there knew of any dealers that have a 4dr 2.5rs for sale, or a personal sale. I was originally going to get a wrx but I think I am going to get a 2.5rs and turbo it or get an ej20 to drop in because I like the style more. If anyone knows of one can you post here. It would be nice if it was a 5sp too.
Thanks

How much are you looking to spend on it?
For the right price mine's always for sale:
2001 RS sedan 5mt Silverthorn metallic
I don't even remember how many miles are on it. I think it's 56k but I could be wrong. (haven't spent a lot of time in it recently)
Coupe & sedan rear wing (either or, not both at the same time)
Cobb CAI
Unorthodox underdrive pulley
Borla gen4 header
high flow cat
brospeed cat-back
sti engine mounts, tranny mount, strut top mounts
20mm fhi rear sway bar
fhi/kyb ver5 struts
spt/eibach springs
kartboy short shifter/bushing (stock shifter in box iirc)
full synthetic fluids since ~9k miles
katskinz leather seats
momo race aluminum shift **** (leather factory in box)Yakima roof rack w/2 bike (steelheads?) and 4 place ski attachments, fairing
eclipse 5440i (iirc, maybe 5441i?) cd player w/8 disc changer
rockford fosgate 4600x amp
Polk 6.5" mids in the front doors, eclipse point source crossovers and tweeters
eclipse 6.5" with crossovers in rear deck
phoenix gold xs2500 w/lpl44 (volume **** in dash)
phoenix gold xmax 12 in qlogic box
phoenix gold 1 farad cap
nokia handsfree car kit hardwired
dunlop sport 5000 on stock alloys
nokian hakka Q studless snow tires on 15" steelies
I think that's about it. It's currently got Hella Rallye 4000s mounted on the front bumper, but those are for sure staying with me. The stereo might be coming out as well unless the price is sweet enough.
I'm not going to name my price, but I'll consider all good offers.
That being said, if you're going to do the motor swap it's better (financially) to take an older Impreza and fix it up. They didn't change all that much. You can fine mid 90's Imprezas for several thousand, then swap the motor/tranny/axles and the front bumper/lights/grill/hood for less than buying an RS then doing the swap.

yeah but if I am going to get an older impreza I want a 4 door rs, which means 00/01 I don't want an L I like the looks of the rs better. Yours is way too modded for me, I don't really know you, but I can't really bring myself to trust the modding skills of anyone other than myself that way I know exactly what is going on. Thanks though

Have you seen pics of TeamSUBARU's car? Or Gary Cavett's rally car? Or wiseguy's car? They're all older Impreza's - Aaron's being a (former) Brighton. Not that you can tell without looking inside of it.
The only difference between a 4-door RS and a 4-door L (externally) is the hood, side skirts, painted door handles and mirrors, wing, and bumper for 99+, and the 98 on down all have different headlights and grills.
The interior is a little different as well, but it appears to be mostly fabric, leather shift boot and steering wheel.
It's still way cheaper to get an older L and change the few bits to make it look like an RS. I think you can do the whole bumper swap for ~$300. Even cheaper if you find one used that somebody has changed out for a body kit. You should be able to get the exterior done for well under $1500. Considering the initial cash outlay for a 00/01 RS sedan (15-17k) versus an older one (under 10k for late 90s) it becomes obvious which way is financially more viable. And when doing the STi swap you're getting rid of the only real difference - the 2.5L engine and close ratio tranny.
But it's really up to you. As far as the skill required to install those mods it's pretty much nil. They're all bolt-ons. The underdrive pulley I had installed by Smart Service because I couldn't get the nut off, but everything else was a simple bolt on. You have to try to screw those up.
I forgot to add the 40mm Cusco rear strut tower bar.

Yeah I have no doubt that I can swap it out, but I found a 4dr for 10950 that I have my dad checking out seeing as how I am on the opposite side of the state. But how easy is it to find the parts for the L to 2.5RS swap? If I got an L I would probably want to do the swap the day I got the L. Are there a lot of 00/01 rs' in junkyards? Thanks for any help, didn't mean to offend you on the modding stuff. But there are a lot of people, even on this board, that have no idea about the most basic of car stuff. I have seen posts on one of these clubs of someone adding a turbo to a 2.5 and then turning the boost to like 12psi with stock everything and was wondering why stuff was breaking left and right. But thanks again for your help.

No offense taken - I know plenty of those people.
What you should really fear is how the car has been driven. I push my car fairly hard, but I also maintain it often and beyond the recommended intervals.
I also haven't broken my tranny yet

www.subaruparts.com used to sell a complete conversion kit for the front bumper. Then you'd need to find a hood (don't forget the outback sport had the same hood from 97+), and any grill/headlights from a newer Impreza. I personally like the 99+ headlights with their clear lenses instead of the 97-98 ones.
If you can find a relatively low mile 00/01 RS for $10k you might as well - enjoy the ittle bump in power until you get around to building/replacing the motor.
