Doughboy, it all depends on 2 factors, what camera are you using and do you shoot in low light situations much. On 1.6 crop bodies suchs as the 20D or the 350D, 17mm is actually 27mm, if that wide enough for you, I'd say go for it. Sometimes I wish the 16mm-35 was wider on my 1D2!
