Not much more
the mechanic did a lot of work on the car monday and yesterday on and off throughout the day, but got nothing major accomplished. Fixed a couple little things, but still no start
Right now its only the ignition coils that aren't working. seems so damn simple, but we can't find a solution

Determined that it might be the key or some faulty programming of some sort. Paul at dbtuned thinks that the immobilizer is properly doing its job of not letting the car start, which is good i guess
talked to the service manager at the Subaru dealer in Napa (the one here in Santa Rosa won't do it, old news). seems like a good guy, should be able to help me and work on the car. gave me an estimate for 300 bucks because it could be a number of things, but if it takes them less time it will cost less, and that would be nice
the mechanic is still working on the car, but it sounds like he is running out of options/ideas. I'm going to go there tomorrow to see what he thinks

thanks guys, i really wish this thing was running
I really have no idea what to do, i was suggested to take out the wiring harness to go through it, but im afraid that might be a lot of work for nothing. We know what is wrong, but not exactly what is causing it to not be working. Its really disappointing, it basically hasn't been running since early February and ive been driving a ****ing truck for too long .
btw, does anyone know what it means if the ring around the ignition doesnt light up when the key is in? (or light up at all? i think the bulb is good)

kinda off-topic, but did you have any issues with fuel line compatibility? Particularly main fuel delivery? My WRX tank uses those weird pressure o-ring clip hoses, the L tank just used regular hoses and clamps. massive headaches involved.
Did the RS have the same fittings as the WRX for fuel delivery?
Good luck, hope you get it sorted!

no, i would have had to incorporate that into the harness somehow. to my knowledge there is no way around the immobilizer on a wrx (but yes on sti apparently)
btw the car is now at LIC motorsports, they are going to do some work and we'll see what happens
