Recent project completed (99 2.2L)
Well, I've had the car for about 3 and a half years now, and I posted pics way back when before many of the mods. I've gone through countless random subwoofers with a junky MA Audio mono amp, so I treated myself this past week to a new system.
Say goodbye to trunkspace. Took my brother and I 5 and a half hours to tear the entire interior out and rewire everything, then do the custom trunk install. The amp is a KX600.1 Class D mono, with a 1.2 Farad capacitor installed on the side. The subs are the new CompVR dual 12" ported setup. The box was so large we had to squeeze it in as shown. Sounds amazing, not exactly the best looking for right now, but when I find a box that fits and hits the same I will be switching it out.

I'll try to get better pictures of the trunk as soon as the sun goes down a bit, I just noticed it's hard to tell the capacitor install
Good news is, if anyone wants to steal my system, it's going to be a major PITA.
We wired the amp through a 1/2" MDF, which we glued the carpet to. All wiring is hidden.

The subs are actually facing upward. The port is on the driver side. They really hit smooth. Best subs i've heard in this car, and i've been through Infinity Kappa, MTX, Alpine Type R subs.

I just spoke with my bro today about putting a different ported enclosure in the trunk, I think I'll try that tomorrow. If I do end up getting a new enclosure I'll be sure to post the results tomorrow night.
