Just bringing this over from my original place on 3G.

Hey guys new here obviously.

Just wanted to share my car with you guys.
i picked it up about 3 weeks ago now (yes it still smells new) and have been enjoying every minute of AWD and the turbo. I had the chance to get into an evo 8/9 don't care for the X's but i've always liked the subaru community and believe it or not that always plays a big role in me choosing cars. It was nice to restart with 1 mile again. I am almost at 1k miles because i've been driving so much trying to get past break-in-period. I changed the oil at 500 miles and am changing it again at 1500. At 500 miles i also put in a magnetic drain plug instead of the stock to try and get any metal shavings next oil change.

Anyways here is the car the day i picked it up after they had removed all the plastic protectors and got it ready and preped. Car came with STi short shift kit and SPT exhaust which is really loud. The whole engine is incredibly louder then i had thought it was going to be lol. I always loved the subi rumble just didn't realize what it sounded like so often. I love it though.

The Second day i owned the car i woke up early gave it a real good detail to try and remove the swirls that the dealer gave me when they "detailed it" and debadged it. I love the cleaner look with no badges. Plus it makes people think it's a granny wagon haha. I still kind of trip out that i have a "5 door wagon" my old car was a sedan and when i was buying my WRX i had a 2011 WRX sedan right next to my hatch and debated for 30min about buying it instead. I think i made the right choice though, something about the hatches look so mean and wide with proper wheels and offsets.

09/30/11

Said i'd keep it stock for a while but that went out the window.
Had Lyle over at VinylStyles do the red outline on my tails because they are hideous stock. I love the way they look now. I'm still debating if i want to add a light smoke to the blinker/reverse area or keep it clear like i have it now.

Also had him wrap my fender badge in matte dry carbon fiber. I don't like the silver stuff my car has stock. After the badges were wrapped and reapplied something had to be done about the Exhaust finishers they just looked tacky being the only silver on my car. My idea was to plasti-dip them because i do like the extension look they give to the rear diffusor. I removed them and saw that they really leave big holes in the stock diffusor which kinda sucks. I plan to install the R205 rear diffusor wing so hopefully it still fits with these on if not i'll have to use black rivets or something to cover the holes up.

I usually suck at DIY anything but i figured it's just plasti-dip and if i eff up that bad my friend is pretty good spray painter so he'll do it right. I think they came out okay though.

Have a bunch planned for this car and i think with my fellow WRX/STi owners on this board and irl i'll be much happier on this board with more down to earth people. Thanks for looking.

10/4/11
Bought OEM rear bumper cover to protect the papers thin paint this car seems to have. Not 100% sure if I will keep it but for now it stays.

Installed ebcs
I suck at DIY anything and this is what happened when i tried to tighten the mount on the ebcs to the car so i had to zip tie it to the metal base. Seems to be holding up fine. Flashed Torqued Performance stage 3 map and the car is running great. Notice that boost comes on much quicker and smoother. I have a 38mm tial wastegate being paired with a ceramic coated grimmspeed uppipe waiting to go on but once that's installed the only thing left will be injectors and my aos for e85 in July.

My tires just aren't cutting it and i really need some new pads, lines, and coilovers. I was trying to stay as close to our lane as possible, some of those corners are sketch for some of us that aren't local. Sorry Brendan for driving like a pu**y LOL. You can hear my Q300 screaming on some of the straights though

07/16/2012
Did something i've been meaning to do for a couple weeks now but was putting off till the 3k came closer so i could do it all at once with my oil change. I brought the car to Auto HQ and Kevin replaced my oil and during the conversation i asked if they could also do my transmission gear/rear diff oil and he said yes. So out with old OEM crap and in with the
Subaru Extra-S and Motul.

Driving impressions: At first i didn't notice a thing with the new gear oil. Everything felt exactly the same till i crossed over 20 miles of using the new stuff. Went to do my first run through the gears and holy fack...the shifting is buttery smooth now, no resistance whatsoever slips right in. Down shifts are incredibly easy too now. This is some great stuff.

08/01/12

With all the recent accidents popping up on i-club i had a little tiny incident involving a truck carrying a bunch of metal food trays. Truck was in the fast lane trying to move over to the slow lane and on this stretch of 101 they have pretty nice size dips and sure enough 3 of the trays fell off the bed of the truck and headed right towards me. Dodged 2 of them but the 3rd got me on the lower driver side part of the bumper. Sounded horrible as i hit it, i cringed as i exited expecting to see a huge chunk of my bumper gone but sure enough the clear bra did it's job and protected the bumper from a pretty good scratch. The bad is it did knock out my lower bumper vent completely off. As soon as i realized the outcome of the hit was very minor i drove over to Carlsen Subaru to have a new vent ordered but luckily they had one in stock. Unfortunately they do not come painted which sucks and i really don't feel like spending money on painting one vent at the moment because i plan to get my lip kit painted WRB to match so i rather wait. I ended up just plasti-dipping both vents so at least they will match.

Dyno tuned by Ed @ EQ Tuning
91 tune and E85

Watch in HD!

12/04/12
Burned off all my E85 and switched to my 91 map because of cold start issues with E85. I start work very early when its cold out so I was having trouble leaving with my car barely being able to crank over on super cold mornings. Eventually it always cranked over just want to see if Ed has a fix since its a fuel issue not a tuning issue.

12/7/12
Ed sent me over a new map so i will be going back to E85 on Saturday night and testing the cold start scenario on Sunday! Back to having power!

12/15/12
Removed my Q300 cat back today. Very sad to uninstall it but as a few of you know I needed something that was a bit more quiet since I generally work early AM. Gave it a good clean for the new owner and then installed a stock 11+ WRX/STi cat back. I find it hilarious that my car barely makes any noise but is fast as hell.

12/20/12
Received my clutch.

South Bend Stage II Endurance

This clutch package is designed for high HP vehicles desiring a start performance similar to O.E. The pressure plate is Race Engineered (SS) and SFI approved with significant load increase over stage 1 or 2 pressure plates (+600-800 lbs.). Expect a pedal effort increase of 20%-25%. A Performance Organic friction material with a high metal content increases torque and RPM capability and maintains low operating temperatures reducing wear and glazing. Recommended usages are daily, spirited street and occasional track.

nice build!

questions:
1. how would you compare the spt vs the q300 catback's sound?
2. how would compare/rate/review the cobb sf vs the AEM noisewise?
3. did you feel any difference (butt dyno), aside from boost coming sooner with the tp stage 3 map?
4. did your radio reception get worse from the perrin antenna?

Still in the works, the set up I was supposed to buy wasn't exactly plug and play on 08+ WRX's you need 08+ STi rear calipers. Any fronts will work though, just need 5x100 rotors and 3mm spacers to clear your stock rims if you choose to stay with them.

FMIC with E85 on VF52 is known to make a really good combo. I might be buying a turbo though Synergy 20G.

Q300 is definitely louder and drones. Honestly I love my exhaust set up at low rpm and WOT. While cruising on the freeway in the fast lane next to the divider I hate it. This thing drones at 80mph. I honestly am thinking about trading for another catback with someone that wants more sound.

Cobb is really nice and is really a work of art. The intake is extremely loud and will be noticed if that's what you are into. I however have plans for a FMIC in the future and know the AEM works. The Cobb intake heat soaks pretty bad when it's warm but other then that it's a great intake. I honestly like my AEM better because it's a tad bit more silent and stays cool as hell!

Stage 3 at first only felt a slight bit better then Stage 2 but now that I've gone through a couple revisions this thing moves! Even my buddy with a built STi running 440hp says my car was faster then his STi was with his pro-tuned stage 2 map from EQ. Eric from TP really knows his **** and he's always made adjustments for safety, power, and precaution. When I get tuned for E85 in a couple weeks I'm going to have a baseline done with this map to see what I'm putting down with stage 3. Long story short? Worth it? Yes. If you care about warranty I wouldn't though. It was a ***** removing stock boost control system.

Perrin antenna other then looking cool I don't think changed reception at all. I don't really listen to the radio much though.
