my daily driver project..gc8 loooovvveee

To start things off, this car has been a thought and dream of mine for about 2 years. I had a chance to buy it, then the guy couldn't sell it to me, so I ditched the idea and bought an Integra. I had a huge turbo and boy was that fun, but I was never fully satisfied with it. Despite the huge turbo and big grins, I still felt empty.

About 2 months ago, I had a chance to sell the Integra and buy my dream 2.5RS. I had no idea how I pulled it off, but I sold 2 cars in 2 days and bought this one the day after. It was crazy.. 3 cars.. 3 days.. I think it was meant to be

Anyways, I picked up some parts from MPJ today and and growing ever-so-close to bliss. I'm in the works with LIC Motorsport for a WRX motorswap set to be done in March. I've picked up various suspension bits for the swap. I was also lucky enough to pick up a WRX crossmember w/ front sway bar for FREE.

I'm still putting together my ideas for this car, but I have my hopes set high for this one. There is so much potential for this car!!

and the car that these parts will be put on:

the interior should have a WRX or STi steering wheel by the time of swap.. i've already switched the oem rubber shift boot to a newer leather boot, added the armrest extension and put in 2.5rs mats

For the future I'm hoping to re-upholster the door cards and side panels with some sort of black sport-cloth material, getting a 1piece seat for the drivers side w/ reclinable for the passenger... I can't think of where to put my gauges though. I don't want to go the center of dash route or a-pillar.. anyone give me some ideas? I'm thinking of moung on the steering column

Pretty stock motor, escept for a K&N filter.. When the EJ20T goes in, I plan on keeping it stock for a little while. I might put a HKS Carbon-Ti right off the bat..

My first real mod to the car.. boy are these things fun

I'm constantly adding things and reseearching on this forum about parts I want. By March some time, this car will have a new motor and be handling better than ever.

Thanks for reading! Comments and suggestion welcome

Once you get the swap done can I go for a test ride / drive?? I'm also planning to do the wrx swap this year but you will most likley have it done before I do. I'll be putting the EJ20 in my 99RS. It will be cool to see how your car comes together compared to mine. I'll have some pics of my swap parts coming up pretty soon.

indeed it is

that's probably one of my biggest fears for this car.. have it wrecked

what do you guys think? keep the L bumper or opt for the 99-01 style with big foglights? i've been thinking about swapping it lately, but the L bumper has kind grown on me..

I personally would swap it. But, I'm biased.

... think of it as the canadian domestic market RS bumper.... I'm sportin' the same bumper on my OBS, and I must admit, I want those big foglights... On the other hand, the 99-01 headlights would be just as good of an upgrade, IMO.

Anyway, I'va wanted to swap out steering wheels for a long time- Is it as simple as it seems? Or is there more involved than simply taking the old one out, and putting the new one in? Is it possible to swap everything BUT the airbag? I've seen WRX wheels for sale w/out airbags, and I wanted to know if mine would fit...

Sorry for the hijack attempt, I just haven't seen this topic discussed much...

Nice ride, a 99-01 RS is still my own goal... someday... Good luck w/ the swap

As fate may have it, I just bought an STi steering wheel. From what I've gathered, you removed the aribag (unclip it and pull it), unbolt the steering wheel, pry it off and try not to bash your face in in the process. when you put the new one in, same process except when you pu tit on to bolt, you have to match these arrows on the bottom to properly align it.

check that link out for more details.
