Latest thing for my car is I'm about to convert my RS open diff to a WRX lsd using the RS ring gear to keep the 4.11 final drive. Got the whole diff today and took it apart. Just need a new diff gasket then open up my RS diff case and swap the WRX diff into it.

Finished swapping in the WRX VLSD last week on Friday. It actually was fairly easy it just took a long time to complete it. Some pics while I was working on it...
Comparing diffs, RS open diff on the left WRX VLSD on the right:

Empty RS casing ready for some lsd action:

Rear end removed:

Assembled RS diff casing w/ WRX VLSD inside:

As of now I'm finally to the point where I don't wanna do anything else to my car. I'm pretty happy where it is now so its time to drive it and have fun. Mostly I'll just be focusing on getting maintenance done when needed and just try to keep it in overall good condition. The tranny is still holding up just fine with the WRX motor so I think I should be ok on that for a while. Bigger turbo will not be going on until this motor dies and I put in a 2.5 block. I'll see how long things hold up, currently 59K on my engine and 119,000K on the car itself and tranny.

sweet! hey, jeff. what is wheel offset on your 99 silver 5 spokes and what tires are you running (specs)? i have the goldies from 98. do they have the same offset? my s03 is too wide. i regret getting 225... T_T

I'm not sure what the offset is I think its 50 something..? But I know the goldies and 99 silvers have the same offset. Right now I'm using Kumho Ecsta ASX 215/50/16 but at the end of the month I'm going back to my 6 spokes that have 215/45/16 Azenis.

the reason i asked is because my 98 goldies are REALLY close to the coilovers. and i have s03 with 225. the s03 are touching the rear coilovers. one of the ways to go about this is to get spacers

Just recently finished up a custom radiator shroud to better hold the wrx radiator in my car plus aid in cooling. Designed it to eliminate the oem radiator brackets since I will be making a smaller custom hood prop that will mount in a different location. Shroud is workin out well so far plus I can't even move the radiator at all now its so snug in there.
edit: wtf... why is ongoing projects now in the gallery?? Laaaamme...

Bump.
Haven't updated this thing in ages, I have a few things I can add to this from last year and this year. I'll try to get this edited over the weekend, stay tuned.

^ Yup just like a zombie, haha..
Let's see, guess I'll just start this update starting in May 2009.
Installed VF34, STI pinks, GM boost solenoid, Walbro 255, ss oil line & coolant lines plus a fresh set of 1 step colder plugs.

Mocked up with my dp:

During the swap:

Got tuned Memorial day 2009 @ GST Motorsports

September 2009.
Installed JDM lightweight front bumper beam and deleted all AC components at the same time. No pics of the bumper, just got this here after removing the parts:

Bye bye heavy stock bumper beam / AC

October 2009.
Rear axle popped out during Auto-X causing the splines to get chipped and resulted in this.

^Ended up replacing both rear axles with a low mileage set of wrx wagon rear axles I had sitting around.
February 2010.
Installed 6000K HID kit from Xenonlink

September 2010.
Front passenger side cv boot exploded on the way home from Pinecrest. Decided to replace the whole axle rather than do cv boot repair. I now have none of the original axles on my car anymore, they've all been replaced.. lol.
No pics of this since it was a pita to fix and I didn't feel like taking pics of it haha.
October 2010.
Installed a black Perrin MAF hose to match up with my Perrin inlet.

December 2010.
Installed black ceramic coated Borla header
Stock vs uncoated Borla

Coated Borla

Borla installed

So this is about where I'm at now. Still trying to rule out a possible exhaust leak with the header but should get that taken care of soon. Next thing will be to detail the f out of my car since its been collecting dust for months on end now and could use a good cleaning.
Not gonna be adding much new stuff during the winter but we'll see, if anything I just want to get up to the snow as much as I can.

This evening I installed the GrimmSpeed master cylinder brace. I gotta say, even though I've had ss lines on my car for a long time I can still feel an increase in pedal stiffness after installing this. So far so good, looking forward to seeing how it does during aggressive driving.
