Picked up Kartboy's new short shifter kit. Install was a little bit of a pita at first, no instructions come with it and I took my time to not break any interior trim in the process of removing it. These cars have the hardest dash/interior trim to get apart that I've come across in a Japanese car..

The performance of the shifter is nice. But the quality of the lathe work they did on the Derlin parts weren't up to par with the price tag. It has a rough edge all around the top of the reverse "puller".. Oh well, works good enough.

Call me crazy, but I don't understand why they don't ship with instructions.

Thanks for the info tho. How much shorter does it make the throws?

Company says its 28.something% shorter. It's definitely noticeable. Though if I got to see one of these kits in person before buying it I probably would have stuck with the oem unit. This kit is rough around the edges IMO. The reverse pull action isn't nearly as smooth as oem, and the finish on the derlin as stated above is annoying.

And the rear shifter bushing doesn't really seem like it did much for the feel of shifting. I like if you're looking to improve the feel, just get the whiteline positive shifter bushing. Best bang for buck.

Definitely a bummer. I had high hopes for KartBoy too, always heard good things about them.

I wonder how their short shifter price compares to importing the STI short shifter from JP.

Tell you the truth... I was pretty let down by the shifter kit for my WRX from kartboy. When I do my clutch I think I'm gonna swap everything out for someone elses. I have more slop than I did stock. Way more.

I was thinking of getting the Cobb short shifter and swapping mine out because the amount of adjustability on the Cobb.

I had a Cobb SS in my old bugeye, loved it. It's a great product.
