Newb with a bunch of 08 STI questions
Newb with a bunch of 08 STI questions
Hi all,
I've been green-lit by my wife to get a new car (as long as it's blue, haha), so I've started to do research on the 08 STI. I have a couple questions that I can't seem to find answers for, but I'm sure somebody on the boards probably knows.
1. VDC. When I do a search on dealer inventories, some have it, some don't. I don't see it listed in the STI literature that I got from the dealer. Do I have to ask for this to get it?
2. When I try and build a car on the website, they have the accessories to add to the car. Specifically, I want the fog lights, but don't want the BBS package to get them (My wife isn't a fan of the BBS rims, and I'd rather spend $2k to get rims that I really want). Can I just add the fog light accessory when I purchase the car? If not, can I purchase the fog lights separately? How difficult is the install for a mechanically inclined person?
3. Is the radio pocket a standard double din size? Again, I'd rather get my own radio and nav put in at a later date. It looks a little small, and that I might have to modify the dash to get a double din radio put in.
I have other questions, but those are more related to the Bay Area and dealerships, so I'll ask those in the appropriate forum.
Thanks for the help. I'm hoping to be in my new car by summer!

I believe VDC is an option. As far as I am concerned it is a performance limiting option. Applies brakes and limits torque, not for me.
Fogs are simple to add. The dealer should be able to provide you with this. Might as well finance them.
The new dash accepts a double din.
Dealerships:
Capitol Subaru [The only dealership that includes a non SOA lifetime warranty]
Carlsen [No hassle buying experience is nice]

1.Yes,VDC is an option I do belive.Most Subaru enthusiasts/owners
would skip on this option since it puts a limit on the performance
aspect of the vehicle.
2.I'm sure any Subaru dealer could provide you with the fog lights
without adding the whole BBS package.I agree with ipozestu you
mite as well finance them.I know you said BBS wheels are not
your wifes cup of tea but, they are actually a good lightweight
wheel and they cost 3K+ I do belive.
3.Yes,the new dash does accept a double din.
witch is pretty cool.
4.I bought my Subaru from Timmons Subaru and I had a excellent
experience. There customer service was top notch also and they
would definately earn my business again.
