I was wondering what the limiting factors are for a 2.2 liter N/A engine, what limits the amount of boost your engine can handle. Is it just the compression ratio or is there more to it than that? I am interested in getting more horsepower out of my 98 impreza. What setups would you guys reccomend to get 200-250hp. Also what turbo components will bolt onto my engine. I have read some other posts, but I want to be safe and get the answer directly to me because I don't know the circmstances involved in the other posts. So far I have learned that my engine is a phase 1 engine and it makes 137hp@5400rpm what I would like to know is this: will stock wrx turbo components bolt right onto my engine other than the crossmember problem. thanks for putting up with my ignorance of tuning. I am learning.

if you change the crossmember and get all the wrx turbo parts the uppipe is very close to the head so you might need a spacer but everything else is no problem
yes the limit is more on CR and engine management than anything else but if you get fuel and spark control with maybe a thicker head gasket you can get nice numbers from a 2.2
