Hey guys I just bought a new 07 subie a week ago. Im new to subaru and to this forum, so any opinions will be appreciated. I have a question. I know the wrx has a factory boost of about 12psi. Is there any way to increase the psi on a stock turbo? What the max boost it can go up to where it is safe?

 

Stock boost is actually 13.5. My boost increased after installing a ERZ downpipe, went to 14.5 psi but goes down to 13.5 again after 4krpm.

hi and welcome! you can increase your boost thru a boost controller, but i would search first to get info about it.

 

is not good to just boost it up with out doing anything else. don't blow the motor

 

ORLY? I think my memory might be getting fuzzy but I could have sworn:

2002-2005 WRX - 13.5psi
2006-2007 WRX - 11.5psi

Did I miss something?

 

Step 1 - Engine management (Cobb AccessPort, ECUTEK, etc.)
Step 2 - Turboback exhaust (down pipe + catback exhaust)
Step 3 - enjoy!

Avoid using manual/electronic boost controllers and blow off valves and you'll be fine. As far as intakes, I don't think they give you a good return on investment so stick with the stock unit till you decide to upgrade your turbo and need an FMIC (front mount intercooler).

Short Answer: Blow-off valves make your car run rich during shifts. Most people agree that unless you are in the mid 20 psi, your stock Bypass valve is good enough.
