New to this forum and observations
Popping in to say hello to the folks out there. Hopefully I can take away with as much as I give to you. I am located in San Jose and I am a DSM'er. I also love to ride motorcycles. Been working on cars for a long time and like they say, DSM's turning ordinary people into mechanics since 19..
Currently, at the Honda Program at Evergreen Valley College. I have done Suspension, Steering and Alignment, Manual Transmission, Automatic transmission, Brakes, Electrical, Air Conditioning, Chassis and Drive-train systems, and Engine Blueprinting. I do side work and charge less than what the shops would charge you. So if you have a question, let me know by PM or email, I do check email everyday, not so much the forums.
I also have a Tig welder and I do charge 10 dollars per weld to cover the cost of the Argon Gas and the welding sticks. (preparation is key in welding and shops charge 75 to 150 to weld something the size of a penny)
I do have a FAQ that I already want to post about the oil pressure switch, Fuel pump, fuel metering level sender and the oil change I just did with PICTURES! (The most important thing for anyone that is a visual person.)
This is my observation on the multiple forums out there on Subarus not just i-club
Positives:
Norcal Forum
Norcal For-sale forum
Random FAQ's
OEM Parts are dime a dozen
Threads with answers on them by the same person who was asking the question.
Neutral opinion: (My opinion hasn't been formulated till I observe more)
Friendly atmosphere
knowledge base moderators such as technical questions
I haven't checked every forum as most of my searches begin at Google such as "WRX check engine light" or WRX oil pressure switch, WRX Fuel meter level or WRX oil change. Which ever shows up would be the forum I register.
Con's
Information is out there but not grouped together for one easy place to find. Check out www.vfaq.com to see what I'm referring to or a visual tour of the engine bay such as http://members.shaw.ca/dsm.1000q/Engineprimer/
Part numbers thread are no where to be found.
Dead end threads
Information is OLD, like the HID kit thread on some forum probably nasioc, 400 dollars for hid's. its more like 60 dollars now. If you say to someone its 60 bucks with lifetime warranty from ddmtuning or sharphid.com for hid's or you can get the blue bulbs for 10-15 dollars each with no warranty. I think the obviously choice would be in your wallet but it hasn't been updated.

anyways, sorry for the long rant. I'll be posting up some info pretty soon and I will apologize to the moderators right now for not posting in the correct forum as navigation of the appropriate forum isn't always obvious to me.

I got what you meant. i'll agree they don't know jack too.lol
The visual stuff is pretty cool for everyone. I refer to it once in a great while.......
yeah that picture thing is pretty amazing. I had the toughest time figuring out where the oil pressure switch was on an 03 wrx and its horrible to get to as well. Usually its on the oil filter but not this one....
