I have an 06 wrx and im looking for a downpipe. From what ive read passing smog is not a possibility even with a high flow cat. Also I want something that will bolt up to the stock midpipe. Any suggestions? Thanks

it should not pass visual. It depends where you go some are more diligent that others

the stock mid pipe has a doughnut gasket
some aftermarket have a flange

were you looking for catless or with a cat

 

I guess if im not gonna pass smog I might as well go catless to save some money. Also i hear that it will run weird without a tune. Is it ok to drive around for a while without the tune or should I just have the tuner instal it?

 

Go get the tuner shop to install it, i mean might as well haha. You can probably drive around for a week at most without a tune but get one asap.

As for the OP if your gonna spend money for a nice Dp, you should just keep ur stock one and just switch it back on when you need to smog. If you can do it yourself (its not a difficult one, although im too lazy to do it myself sometimes). Its less risky than going to a smog place hoping to pass.
