Many folks are less than pleased that they did not make the cut-off time for the upcoming T.E.A.M. Racing event at Thunderhill (July 18th), and lots were asking about when our next track day was. Well, we really didn't plan on another event this year, thinking three was enough. Based on many inquiries, I consulted the track manager, Shannon Ell.

The date of August 31st -- a Wednesday-- is all that is currently available. After that there are several dates in November and December. I will be glad to reserve us a spot in August (or November, December) if I get 45 committed drivers. I will need to collect money to cover track fees asap to make sure we can reserve the date. At this time,though, I am just wondering if anyone is truly interested. This is not a sit on the fence deal -- I cannot afford to foot the bill. I wish I could . . . but you know how that goes!

So if you are interested . . . please let me know by say . . . July 15th or so. I will compile a list of folks who have shown interest and email them later. As soon as it looks like we have at least 25 committed, I will email you all out a note with pricing info. If I can get at least that 25 by about July 25th, I will stick my neck out and plan another great day at the track for us all to enjoy. Pricing will be economical, but rest assured, we will still have catered lunches, Gatorade, bottled water, snacks, instruction, and at least two hours of track time. I want to drive Sears Point.

 

***Me too, but there are no openings whatsoever. That track is so popular that folks are on waiting lists three deep. In fact, this date at Thunderhill is in competition with a film crew . . . so if we're going to do it, we need to 'bid' on it before the film guys do.

NASA has a two day event at Sears coming up on August 6-7th, though, if you are interested. Provided I'm not broke, I plan on racing that weekend. Check out http://www.nasaproracing.com/norcal for details. Sorry that we can't get Sears. Even if we could, it would run us probably about $225-250 per driver. NASA gets to keep their down 'cause of the races that also go on (and they don't give you two hours of time like TEAM does 'cause there aren't enough hours in the day).

 

PS -- August 10th just popped up, too, if anyone wants to chime in for that date.

***With which date? I ask because it's looking more and more like Thunderhill is going to sell the 31st to that film crew. But the 10th is a go if we can get the money together in time (like, asap). They'll hold it for us until the end of this weekend, so I need to know if I will get enough sign ups or not for the 10th. We're also looking into a November date . . . in addition to or instead of the August date -- I just gotta see how much interest is generated.

The film crew paid T'hill a bunch of extra moolah to get the date away from us, but just this morning I was at T'hill and Shannon Ell himself came up to me and let me know that August 10th is a confirmed opening if we all want it. I have ten drivers already signed up . . . cost is $190 if I get it by July 19th, $200 thereafter. CASH ONLY (or money order) if you sign up later than August 3rd. As always, add five bucks for PayPal. I really hope we can make this work . . . the track is practically begging us to put something together (gotta pay that CEOs salary, I guess, lol).

Let me know ASAP . .. I need to give the track an answer by this Monday, july 11th.
