That event has so much potential but is so poorly run. It's sad really. Don't think I'm gonna venture out this year.

me? I have wrx heads and an sti shortblock. The prev owner had it tuned, it probably wouldnt be alive right now if it hadnt. Im just as confused as you hahaha. I guess the shortblock creates a higher compression ratio which creates more power. All i've come to understand.

If you do a 2.5 block with 2.0 heads and don't use the right pistons it can be a major issue down the road. I've thought about doing one for a long time and in the beginning people were trying all kinds of crap to get them to work.... thicker gaskets, ported heads, etc. Some worked well.... some not so much. It scared me away. But after a couple long conversations with Mike it seems these days you can put down good power reliably with one.
But in my case... 200,000 miles... I'm gonna more than likely need new heads so for me it makes more sense to do a long block.
So I'll either do a stroker block (2.1) with built heads and small came... like 264's. Or I'll do a STI swap. Depends on where I'm at when she blows or if I do it before she blows, if my caddy is running (give me more down time). Etc.
But I've got it narrowed down to that right now. If it blows and the caddy isn't running I'll ahve to have paul do it... quick. If I do the full build and my caddy is running I'll have Mike do it. Takes a bit more time but I can go nuts on it and have the builder tune it. If I pick something up while she's still running I'll do the swap myself.

ya i have heard many great things. I can tell my wagon has some issues, when I WOT in 2nd and 3rd, theres quite a bit of stuttering when the boost kicks in.

On a side note... Walmart is doing Royal Purple oil changes for $54. Friggin steal. Can't do my own on account of someone stealing my jack!
