MEET UP: North Bay, lets get it going!
Well… there once was this Legacy wagon, she was purchased with 134,000 and traded at 168,000. I owned it a little over 2 years (27 months I think.) Which isn't much… until you factor in that I was deployed for a total of just over 12 of those months. 34,000 in about 14 months.
I traded the legacy for my WRX. I got it with a bad odo, but there was about 119,000 on it less than a year ago. Swapped in a ODO that had 72,000 miles on it, and I think right now I am in the 86,000 range. So 14,000 in a year and a month. But… again, I was deployed a lot. From end of March until Mid July. And again from Mid Aug through mid sept, and another half a month in Oct/Nov time frame. 14,000 miles in essentially 6 months. 28K a year average.
Its 179 miles one way from work to my house in Tahoe. Drive up and back twice a month usually thats 716 right off the bat. Then theres the "Im off work, and bored" driving that I do most everyday. Then the Wednesday night Fremont meets, if in town the North Bay meets, and then the drives. Running errands, driving up to Sausolitio just to take photos.
It adds up quick!
And, if that doesn't count I can always toss in the 10,000 I put on my motorcycle in 6 months back in 2000, or the 45,000 I put on my firebird in 18 months right after I bought it.
Needless to say, I spend a fair share of time behind the wheel and an ever larger share of money filling my cars. WRX gets about 21-23 MPG average also, so its about $80 for a weekend trip home.

Oh, and thats why I own multiple vehicles. At one time I had my 98 Outback, 01 Forester, 97 Outback Sport and the 93 F-150. Sold the OBS to my sister about the same time I traded the Outback for the WRX. When I lived in VA a while back I had 2 Jeeps, a motorcycle and a Chevy Tahoe.
My insurance company loves me, and Im thankful for the multiple policy discounts haha

Just gave a flyer to a blue WRB WRX hatchback in Montecito Plaza in San Rafael today. He seemed excited about showing up to the meets and the next drives. Hopefully he ll make it very soon. Welcome !

I did, thanks for asking. Flushed the coolant, pulled the plugs, and ran compression tests. Looks like I dodged a bullet. Took the opportunity to put in new NGK's since the old plugs were gapped WAY out of spec. My autotopsy concluded that somehow the lower radiator hose came off, perhaps from too much pressure in the coolant system (i.e. bad water/coolant ratio). This led to the sudden overheating of the motor, which increased the oil temperature to the point where the oil pressure fell below 20psi at engine idle, thus triggering the alarm from my DEFI gauge. Those DEFI's put a huge dent in my pocket, but after this incident, they essentially saved me from blowing up my engine.
In conclusion, the Saabaru STi lives on!
