99- 2.2 L wagon...no power
This is my 2nd 2.2 legacy...love 'em! Need more go-go. I'm new to the thought of aftermarket...had a suggestion to do the following:
New exhaust- front to back
New intake
Lite cam pulley
***All this looks great but the exhaust is $1K at minimum. I don't think I need it w/o turbo. New intake and new pulley would probably give me 25 horses or so?
Are there other tricks? I drive 60k per year and need reliability more than power...but shure would love more guts.also, at 60k, this car needs a tune up. I want perf. plugs---any timing recommendations? Factory timing is usually stupid...

You can spend less than a thousand on an exhaust. I believe my grand total was around $800 (header, high-flow cat pipe, cat-back). I don't think you'll get 25hp from an intake and pulley (intakes make more noise than horsepower). I don't think these things will really give you the performance boost you're looking for, but they won't bring down reliability at all.
