91-93 subaru legacy
What kinda mods could I do. Is the ej22 in the legacy just as strong as the wrx engine. What kinda electronics could I use on it. The most important question is who if any body makes parts. Like exhaust and intake or are intakes/pulley/headers and high flow cat universal to a point on all ej series engines.
Thanks any help would be great.

i have an ej22 in my 95 (same engine i'm sure) and there are a lot of places esp. online that will be able to hook you up with parts... rallitek.com is a place i always reccomend cuz sean really knows his stuff and helped me out a lot, i plan on getting a header and catback from him eventually, i already have the intake and i like it. spomotorsports.com is another place, along with ion performance, rkperformance, and theres a lot of other places too like teaguesauto. i dunno, i would say check those out and if you cant find anything theres always japan too. do a search online, check out ebay, japanese auctions, i'm sure you'll be able to find stuff. an ej22 has a LOT of potential, but you're definately going to have to sink some cash into it. good luck.

oh yeah, intakes are universal on all engines except the ej20t (wrx) as far as i know, as well as underdrive pulleys, hi-flow cats, and maybe even exhausts... you might want to go with a custom cat-back as it may be cheaper. i know someone who did one for about 300. headers are NOT universal at least between the ej22 and ej25. if you don't know the ej25 is the engine that comes in the newer legacy gt's, my2000+ legacy, and 2.5rs.

I just got a stage one kit from rallitek for my 1998 Legacy L. They did the install and everything. I couldnt be more satisfied. if you've got any q's just post 'em and I'll try and answer. If you want the parts, contact sean at rallitek and he'll tell every thing you could ever wonder about.

The EJ22 is just astounding. I have 124k on my 91 Legacy and it's barely broken in.
I tried to do some stuff to it about a year ago, but go-fast parts are hard to find, and expensive once you do find them.
I recommend a K&N panel filter, snorkus removal, some KYB GR2 struts with H&R springs and STi top mounts and some good grippy tires and you'll be surprised how much performance you will gain. There's always chips and pulleys and other stuff too...
