tires for my legacy - help!

I own an 03 legacy with the stock 16" wheel and I'd like to upgrade the tire. My friend has some killer tires from his wrx that have about 1000 miles on them. He bought a GTO. My question is can I use 225 with the right profile on my 16" wheels. Subaru tells me no - they said it will kill the grip - what do you think? Also I'm having a short shifter and rear sway bar put in - should I go with STI or do you recommend others? I'm having it professionally done so install is not an issue. Thanks

If I remember correctly those wheels are 16x6.5? If that is the case, then 225 width tires are probably a little too wide for your rims.

I don't think you should go with those tires. Better to get something nice or look for used wheels with tires.

I don't think you will find an STI sway bar for your 03. Go with Whiteline for the suspension stuff and www.kartboy.com for short shifter. Get the bushings for the SS as well.
