Odometer error code?

Last night I was rear ended. There were only cuts and scrapes on my rear bumper (let's hear it for Subaru's good crash test ratings!!) but this morning on my way into work I noticed the odometer acting funny. The trip part of the mileage kept jumping between the mileage and either ill.5 or 1ll.5. Does anyone know what this means and does it have anything to do with the accident?? I called my local dealer and they just wanted me to bring it in for them to look at it. There is no way I'm paying for something when the other driver's insurance is suppose to take care of damages.

Well, there are two reasons for that reading. When you change the illumination of the gauges on an 05+ (I'm assuming thats what legacy you have), it displays the illumination level, from ill1 to i116.

But, its also been known to pop up if there is a problem with that switch, and suposedly if you clean if off the ill5/6 will stop flickering.
