WRXs, STis and SOME Legacy GTs do indeed use a LSD rear diff, but these models all use a different read-end ratio (typically 4.11) then the Legacy L (typically 3.90, iirc) so if you swap out the rear diff you pretty much have to swap the ring and pinion in the transaxle as well, unless you want to loose the AWD setup. Many people find it easier to simply swap the entire Tranny then to mess with ring & pinion gears. Unless your wife is a real motor head, doing the rear diff can most likely wait for a while. While swapping the Tranny, putting in a heavy-duty aftermarket clutch setup is a very worth while mod.
