headgaskets are the biggest threat. 00-04 have an 'extended' warranty till 100k...so find one with less than 100k...or just build in money for an engine swap(for more power) or the cash to fix the headgaskets once they go(which they probably will).

All have extended warranty on headgasket related issues only from 2000-2004 to 100,000 miles.

Car fax is worthless. Drive the car, check the paint, look for overspray(dead giveaway of repair), look underneath, and have a dealer check it out mechanically. Also, make sure there are 4 of the same tires on her. Many people are oblivious and only replace 2 tires creating different total tire diameters...which is bad for the awd system. At the dealer you may be able to inquire as to whether the headgasket has been replaced also. If it has, the likihood of it occuring again is substantially less.

The car you want seems like a good deal though, yes...I'd bargain them down slightly below 10k out the door though.

Good luck.

I'll second fibuz on all of this stuff. I've had several headgaskets on mine, but the problem should be solved now.
