Fuel door opener....
My car has been sitting all summer and it is time to get her back in shape for winter. Pulled her inside and was treating her well. I went to pull the fuel door lever under the front seat and it didn't work. I didn't hear anything snap. I fiddled and pushed and pulled but nothing.
Anyway, has anyone ever fooled with one of these? Where does the cable run? How hard to replace?

I seem to recall seeing a FAQ on some subaru enthusiasts website on how to install a release switch for doors that didn't originally come with a switch. As I recall, he said it was a long process.
As for your case, I'd start in the trunk near the fuel door and see if you can get it released, and then back track it from there...but I bet the cable became disconnected near the fuel door if its still connected near the switch.
Good luck, and if I run across the site again with the install instructions I'll let you know.

okay, lucky for you I remembered where I saw the FAQ:

not exactly as I described it I guess, but should get you off in the right direction!

Rather than go out and buy all the parts and then hassle with the re-routing of the cable I went with plan B.
The cable was indeed broke. I have a wagon so I gained access through the storage compartment inside. It was an easy reach so I undid the mechanism. I cut as far up the cable as I could and then reinstalled the mechanism in the fuel door. I cut a small hole in the storage compartment and threaded the cable through and attached a small bolt by winding the end of the cable around it. I secured with two nuts and voila.
Now when I pump gas I simply pop the hatch, open the storage comp. and pull the bolt that is hidden neatly inside.
20 minutes later and good as new.
Thanks for your help gentlemen.
