Surprise, surprise... somebody crapped out while in the lead again.
I for one am glad that the new points paying structure is extended to the first ten spots in F1 and WRC. A better reward for those teams who are improving.

I didn't get to see the race, but it was great to see that Schumacher (both of them) didn't make it to the podium. Would've liked to see JPM win one, but apparently he blew it late in the race.

i remember not so long ago when ferrari was all but forgotten...
i know he didn't get on the podium... but you have to love that race... shumacher raced hard... and it actually costed him a DNF... that was really close... but it all came down to those looooooooooooooooooooooong pit stops! heads will roll in the ferrari pit crew!!! season has started folks!

I think some of the new rules are a bit silly. Ferrari was having a carbon fiber yard sale blowing off body work left and right. 4th place after 3 pit stops is still bloody amazing. He was black flagged for some dangling body work but of course by the time he got to the pits the body work had already fallen off. It'll be interesting how the rest of the season pans out. Looks like the new Michelins are going to be competitive with the Bridgestones this year.
BTW... if anyone ever wondered how Shumacher would do in an autox (yeah I know it's a completely different bowl of wax but I've often wondered) there's a shot of him going into pit lane where there's a 90° right turn followed by a left turn with posts on the apex of each turn. I played it back frame by frame (praise TiVO) and Shumacher has planted the rear wheel within about a 1/2 inch of each post!
Oh... what the heck was BAR/Honda smoking sending two cars into pit lane at the same time???
Cheers, Joe

re: australia gp
yeah it he ws black flagged because the car started coming apart... but i think he was scheduled for a pit stop anyways... their pit crew blew it this time.

It'll be re-shown twice tonight (it's on as I type) on Speed, if you have access to cable or satellite.
Speed TV schedule. Don't miss clicking on your time zone in the drop-down menu near the middle of the page - no confusion about Eastern/Pacific time.

I can't even get Speedchannel in Los Altos. The cabel company sucks *** and my parents are too ghey to get DirecTV. grrrrrrrr. I LOVE F1, I actually did a 10 page paper on the business structure of it last year. Bernie is one badass businessman, even though he is one greedy bastard.
