Finally bought my first Subaru
Just bought a silver 2003 Legacy L special edition and I'm loving it already.
Went out Wednesday night to sign the paperwork and place the down payment. Picked it up Thursday afternoon. Managed to buy it for $550 below invoice.
Not planning on doing any real mods to it. I do need to figure out what alarm system to put in it though. Will probably do that this coming week. Might also put some kind of front-end cover on it too.
Eventually, in a few months after tax-season, I want to decide on some sort of solution for playing .mp3s. I'd prefer to go with a hard-drive system of some sort as having to burn a new CD everytime I want to add in some .mp3 files is a pain.
Anyway, in summary, I'm really pleased with the Legacy. Been driving a '94 Ford Explorer for the past 7 years and have found the 4WD on it to be inadequate for the New England weather. Plus, it was up to 194,000 miles so it was time for a change. Looking forward to the next snowfall around here now.

Watch yourself the cars are addictive. The first time you drive that in the snow you'll be in love. a year ago I had a forester now I own 4 Subarus! 2002 WRX, 2003 Legacy and, 2 92 SVX's.
The Legacy is really nice it just feels real smoth. I have the Timberline Green and I love it.
Welcome Again.

Thanks everyone. Wish I had more time to play with my new Scoobie. Had to work the past 4 days though and then had my wisdom teeth out today so I'm kind of laid up. Still have to try to take it tomorrow to get it registered and then check out car alarms. I have been driving it back and forth to work those past four days and it flies... I hauls up and down route 95 in MA without any hesitation and without me even noticing the speed to much.
I am having a little trouble getting comfortable to the seating arrangement in it though. I think I'm so used to how much more room I had in the Explorer that moving to a car with less room needs some getting used to. Just need to play with the seat positioning I think though till I find the right placement.
Mark: lol... yeah, I probably will eventually mod something on it. Never modded anything before, so I'll eventually start small I'm sure. What sorts of mods have other people done to their Legacies?
K1: Got the automatic. Unfortunately, I've never had the chance to learn how to drive stick. Makes it easier too though if my sister has to borrow it sometime since she doesn't drive stick either or if my mom needs to borrow it since she hasn't driven stick in probably 30 years. lol...
WRXSTIle: Very true about them being addictive. When I went in to buy the legacy last week I had to wait a few minutes to talk to the salesman. While waiting I kept gravitating towards the Forester and wondering if I should get that instead. Maybe later in life if I get a family of my own or something. Also loved the look of the Baja too, but just didn't seem very practical with that open bed in back. I actually chose the Legacy after I went in for a test drive of an OBS and kept "gravitating" towards a couple of legacies.
