Burning oil smell '05 GT Wagon
Howdy folks.
I've got about 3.5k miles on my 05 GT, and I occasionally smell a sort of hot/burning oil smell. I just had it in for it's first oil change, and had them check all the belts, seals, etc., and they found nothing wrong.
I would have bet a fair sum of money that it was the crank seal, since it's exactly the same behaviour/smell that comes along with this common leak in the EJ25 - oil dripping out of the seal onto the exhaust, but they found no leaks.
Anybody else experiencing this? I wouldn't think it was still new-car crap burning off the engine.

It could be engine dressing. The factory puts a special dressing on the engine before shipping to the showroom and it smells like oil burning. Check your oil levels about once a week and if it stays the same, then you're fine. My WRX has abou 8k on it and I still smell it a little.
