91 legacy, engine swap from 90 - HELP!!

91 legacy, engine swap from 90 - HELP!!

I bought a 91 legacy turbo 2.2 that the last owner swapped motors from a 90 standard 2.2 wagon same tranny(auto),the car now idles rough and misses,I am getting trouble codes 11,14,21,22,35,44,45,49,the ECU was swapped also..any ideas would be helpful,Thanks

Have you reset the ECU recently? That sounds like a straightforward swap, to a point, but obviously something is off. You might try posting over at the legacycentral bbs: http://bbs.legacycentral.org

Thanks,I have not tried that yet ,but I will tonight !!..how does one know if the car is obd1 or obd2?

OK to clear the codes,my chilton tells me to have the ignition on & engine running connect both read memory terminal & test mode terminal ,found some other methods posted on web involving same connectors connected but driving the car over 10mph for more than 1 min. until engine light flashes,just wondering how others are doing it !!

All Subarus in the US made before 95 were OBDI. Those methods will clear the codes, but I can't say for certain if they'll clear the hard codes. A Subaru SelectMonitor tool can also do the job, and any Subaru dealership will be able to do this for you.

I'd simply try disconnecting the battery first, let it sit for a few minutes and step on the brake pedal to leech the power from the system. Reconnect the battery and check codes immediately.
