'04 Twin Turbo Legacy?

Well, Turbo or not, I will not be buying a new Subaru Legacy in '04 or '05.
Just dropped the wad on a loaded '04 240 HP All Wheel Drive Nissan Murano.
For those who are not familier with this vehicle, it's impressive.
This crossover ute is roomier than the Legacy wagon, very stylish and handles like the tires are magnetized when driving in the snow. The CVT tranny, although an auto, is like fresh butter on toast when applying power. No shifting and the mileage is fairly good for a vehicle this heavy sporting a 3.5L 6cyl.
The big unknown will be finding out if the rig can display the same quality that our Legacy has shown us over the last 6 years. If Subaru would just step up with a slightly larger vehicle, I would have never have bought from another manufacturer.
But it is a sweet ride...

I'm glad subaru hasnt stepped up to a larger vehicle. They have some pride and havent sold out to the compact SUV market that is oh so trendy. So enjoy all that off roading in your murano (should be comfy with those enormous wheels) and have a blast with that nice tall vehicle stability. Sorry, I guess i'm just bitter that another person losing the faith. Maybe you'll return someday.

Awww, don't be bitter. Here is the situation:
Our family did not take this lightly. We are real believers in Subaru. Having a vehicle that does so many things just exactly right is not easy to turn away from-we never had one problem, not one, with our '97 Legacy and that piece of mind is worth it's weight in gold. With the birth of our child and the potential for another soon, we needed a vehicle that could sit 3 passengers with a booster seat in the car. My wife carries clients and pulling the seat out each time she needed space was not a good option. I wanted a stylish vehicle that had performance and could still be considered safe in our snowy winter climate. If Subaru made a slightly larger vehicle, one that sat 5 passengers comfortably, then it would have been a no brainer and we would not have even looked at another rig.

I would never plan on taking a Subaru vehicle truly off road anyway. The occasional dirt road yes, but what I love about these cars is the no surprises handling, rock solid suspension in adverse conditions, and the overall feel of the vehicle. When we bought the new car, I had the choice of selling my loaded '99 Ford f150 extra cab with the 5.4 liter v-8 or our '97 Subaru. Getting rid of the truck got rid of a car payment, but the real reason I chose to keep our '97 Legacy (my ride now) and sell the truck was all the things Subaru does right. That Subaru has never let me down, and I see no reason to get rid of it. So as far as leaving Subaru, well, in reality, we have never left. It's just that the Legacy candy machine I have always wanted will have to wait another day.
BTW-our Subaru dealer did confirm that the company does have plans for a 5 seat vehicle in the next two years. The speculation is a minivan or some type of SUV. I have not been able to confirm this, but it may be a direction that they go in.
