Post count in reginal forums has been disabled.
Since many of you were shamelessly abusing it, I removed it. No more post count in any reginal or misc forums. Only tech posts count. Do not abuse that as well, as I will just remove it all along. I know some of you will be upset because of it, but in all honesty, I really wanna keep the tech-2-noise ratio high here. No need for other "OT Impreza Club".

Wow,
on NASIOC I'm a Specialist, here I'm a Senior Member. Now I'm probably a n00b. Not a lot of incentive to post in the "technical" forums. Check them if you want, I was making an honest attempt to educate people.

Lurker?
Why is Lurker under my name? I had nearly 1000 posts before your new policy. I was not a postwhore. Since the I-Club Nasioc split, most of the technical info has been on Nasico. Or I-Club Hawaii forum. WTF?

i think it's a step in the right direction! I believe that the complaining/hostility is due to the holiday season and new member traffic. You haven't had to deal with a great number of people a year ago today and i think it's starting to show a bit.
With extra moderators and Regional post counts lost i think we'll see a lot better quality posting and a little less bickering in the regional forums...not too much less but an improvment.
eric.
EDIT: i just noticed the post count and believe that this could backfire Alex. The bottom line is that people want an Avatar! i could really care less about an icon but it's the truth! Whether or not they admit it is on their shoulders but it gives them something to be recognized with.
I believe that something has to give in this situation. The fact that the avatar post count is still 555 is going to encourage meaningless posts (because a lot of people >100 posts) in the tech forums still and people may not be getting the quality info they need! i know im not running the show and i truly think i-club is the best forum around but i'd either lower the post count for the avatar considerably, get rid of avatars all together, or just enable the avatars for senior members etc and see what happens. test the waters a little and see how things unfold. then get the moderators input on how smoothly the shows running. Hell, im on i-club half the day at work and at home... i could give you feed back and help if you'd like...i'd be happy to put my money where my mouth is.
I've only been in this forum for about 7 months or so but all the trouble started when avatars were enabled.
eric. nonetheless, that's my view on the whole spectrum... i believe this was a good step.

NO POST COUNT
Post whoring used to be down to a minimum in the tech forums. How many people have to say "Keep your airbox, don't get the CAI" in one thread? Across 20 similar threads? Well now that post count can't be raise in BAIC (et al), say buh-bye to quality in the tech forums. Sigh. You can already see it... and it was already faltering.
You get better responses from people through appealing to peoples' points of view than trying to corrall their behavior. The problem is, there's not a lot of intersection between I-Club and MENSA
Let nothing be based upon post count... suddenly the post whoring problem goes away. And, only people who actually care will post. That's what you want anyway, isn't it, Alex, Daniel, etc...? You can't have it both ways. The combo of postcounts and stupid people created this problem. Unless you want to censure stupid people (a la The Other Forum), then just remove the post counts. People who participate by contributing technically and even contributing in helpful ways in the locale forums, let alone people who organize and even show up consistently to events, they stand out without the need of a postcount. Give them the kudos.

Just for an example here's another forum i belong too and it goes off without a hitch! very well maintained and stupid people, comments etc WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.
This is just for reference Alex.
Yes this is a military forum and these guys are very harsh but it still applies to i-club. They have avatars turned on for everyone, post counts enabled for certain forums (like you've done) and a seperate set of rules for each seperate forum that the MODs regulate very well.

So basicly now I have to postwhore in every other forum section in order to make up for the loss of all my legitimate posts in the bay area section. I think I'm finally getting the hang of this intarweb thing.
why is the post count so valuable to everyone? when i read things i don't look at how many posts they have but the words that are on the screen. most times people can see if the person has any knowledge by the things he/she says or if they are pulling things out of their butt to try and look smart. hopefully the newbies don't look at post count as an indicator of expertise and trust the first person that responds with a high post count. they should be reading and searching and then reading again.
