They may be cool at car shows but on the street they are distracting, not to mention illegal. There is also somewhat of a hazard with the neon lights if they get broken in a collision, or for some other reason, and something flammable is present, due to the then-exposed high voltage in the tubes.

 

'Cuz they're GAY! Just kidding, I find them to quite irritating though, really.

 

Lets just say most of us can do with less light to distract us at night, god knows we get blinded enough during the day while using computers

 

From what I know, Neon under the car is only illegal if you can see the tubes. Any color is fine as long as it is tucked under properly. That's how it is in California.

Neon was meant for old school low riders with mad spoked wheels and hydraulics.

Subaru's were intended for rally. Dirt or tarmac. Neon will get you pulled over quicker, even if it's legal...

 

Neon is for those who NEED to THINK that they are cool.
