Please, i saw Leds on ebay at aprox. $70.00 while neons at over $140.00
I also find that neons needs a transformer that increase the voltage to thousands of volts while leds use only 12Vdc and only milliamperes of current.,but what about light output..??

I'm with you though, I'd rather have LEDs (if I was going to light the underside of my car). Check out:

They seem to have bulbs that wouldn't be too hard to wire up and some of them have huge light outputs.

go with the leds. they will last a whole lot longer than the neons.

don't waste your time by getting bent out of shape over some of the members on here. some just feel they have to express their opinion even if its not constructive.

 

Yeah, i think is better cuz roads in my area are crap
