i just thought of tinting my tails, not a full blackout but a nice tint to give it a dark look. i thought of how i would have to tint it on the outside and if it would get weather beaten? well post me your comments please

 

Well, the downside is obvious: your brake and rear lights won't be as visible to others, and you might draw attention from the cops depending on where you live.
If you buy paint that is expressly for the purpose of tinting lights, it will probably be very durable and you won't have to worry much about weathering. If you need some help finding the correct sort of tinting paint, www.autofreak.net should carry some Japanese brands. Poke around their site a bit and you should find it.

 

I agree with Choku, I was considering paint tinting my tail-lights. I decided not to do it because of the cop attract factor. One less thing for the cop to notice.

A friend of mine had the tail-lights painted on his black G35 coupe, all I can say it it looks SICK! One less thing for the cop to notice. He hardly drives the car, so he doesn't really care.

As for wear and tear of the tinting, if you use a good quality spray it will last with proper maintence, if you use the film tint it will eventually will start peeling, and taking off the adhesive after pulling off the film is a PITA.
