switched/unswitched power in cargo area?
Does anyone know if there is 12v power available anywhere in the cargo area of a WRX wagon? I'm pretty sure its there somewhere, but I don't want to rip apart the whole car looking for it (I only want to open up whats needed.
I'm not looking for any serious current carrying capability like for an amp. I need 10 amps at 12vdc like a standard cigar/power outlet. Preferably, I'm looking for both switched power and always on power.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Yeah I'd like to have an accessory 12v outlet back there also. It can't be to difficult since the OBS has one, maybe check where it is on the OBS and go from there, it might even pay to order the part from the dealer and retro-fit the outlet. Can't imagine the wiring harnesses would be different for the WRX? Anyone know?

You can either:
A: use the fues box spot already provided for you or
B: you can tap off of the exisiting 12V outlet up front.
I looked for a pre-wired nicely guage wire for this application, and found nothing. I even went through the dealerships harness files and it looks like the WRX and Outbacks have different harnesses.
The rear cargo can be a slight pain to take apart since it is inter-twined with everything else, but doable.
Happy trails...

It is a cool thing the parts from Subaru are about 20-30 bucks and the install really is not that bad. You will need to cut out some of your rear carpet but it looks factory when finished :-)
It belongs right below the rear cargo light.
Have fun

you still have to source power from up front correct? I had my entire trunk apart for stereo install and the only power i saw was the illumination light wich is switched, and the taillights.. shouldnt be hard to run from the front though the car is easy to run wires in.
Ya ya I need that extra outlet in my truck like OBS. Maybe we can try to get the parts from dealer.
Or make one yourself, needs a 12v cigar outlet and 18 guage wires from Autozone( may need a long long wire).
