Sound Deadening Advice
Hey guys,
It's been a while since I've been on the forums. I'm back in Sacramento now and will be for a while. I've been wanting to install sound deadening in my car (2006 STI) and I'm looking for a place to have it done. I know that many people choose to buy the material and install it themselves. I also know that some shops can also do it for you. I'm not sure how easy it is to do, so I'm leaning towards the "finding a good shop and having it done there" route. I don't mind paying extra if it means it will be done right.
My plan is to get sound proofing installed in all four doors, the roof, the entire floor, the trunk, and anywhere else they can fit more. I realize this sounds blasphemous since this will add weight and drop performance
but I've already dropped over 100lbs of weight from my car (weight checked at the last corner balance session) and so I can afford to add back up to 100lbs without having gone over factory stock weight, although this will need another balancing.
Do you guys have any recommendations on where to get this done? Around here, there are some shops that do stereo installs and other electronic equipment installs in cars, but I dont' know if any of them are good and can be trusted to do the kind of work that will be needed. I'm also considering specialty shops. Perhaps something like a custom creations or custom car project type of store. I dunno. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am willing to drive up to 250 miles one way if need be.
Or if anyone knows someone who can undertake a project like this, I'd like to know as well. Thanks!
