+1 for kartboy short shifter....just installed it and i love it. 40% shorter throws and it sits slightly lower than the stock shifter. its perfect....i recomend getting the kartboy front and rear shifter bushings as well...

If you have the factory short throw you have a couple of options-

1. Replace the lever with a Kartboy lever. You'll need to get the version for the older GC chassis ('01-earlier) because the short throw setup uses the earlier style linkage. Don't get the Kartboy made for the '02-later. This will reduce the shifter height about an inch.
2. Replace the **** on your existing lever with an aftermarket set-screw type ****. You can then push the **** as far down on the lever shaft as it will go, which should reduce the height from where it is with the stock thread-on ****.
3. Cut the lever shaft down a bit. You'd then have to re-thread it to use the stock **** or an aftermarket thread-on one, or just get a set-screw ****.

My setup with the factory SS is a combination of #2 and #3, lever cut down 1-1/4" with a Momo set-screw **** pushed all the way down.
