I have a "platinum silver" 2002 WRX, and some SOB hit the front right edge of the "lip" under the front bumper while it was parked at Fry's Electronics. The idiot left no note, and I really don't want to call my insurer, as my rates will certainly go up. $2.8k a year is already KILLING ME.

The scratched area is about 3" across, and is scratched all the way down to the black plastic, but the damage is just on the surface; some 400 sandpaper would probably get it pretty smooth again.

So, is this a paintable part? If I have to replace the whole front bumper, are there bumper/lip kits cheaper than the stock part?

Posting a pic would help. If you haven't had any paint experience don't try to do this one yourself. Take it to a bodyshop tell them what happpend and if a chunk is taken out of it they will need to use bondo and sand it and repaint it. They should give you an estimate. Good Luck.
