Removal of rear roof vain from '06 STi

I am just curious if it is a wise decision to remove the rear roof vain from the '06 STi. Is it painted under the flanges? Are there holes for mounting screws that need to be filled. I am looking to rid the roof vain and get a wingless trunk and put on the S204 spoiler/lip thing. TIA.
