Removal of rear roof vain from '06 STi

I am just curious if it is a wise decision to remove the rear roof vain from the '06 STi. Is it painted under the flanges? Are there holes for mounting screws that need to be filled. I am looking to rid the roof vain and get a wingless trunk and put on the S204 spoiler/lip thing. TIA

Its the metal piece that goes acroos the top of the back window. Supposedly it helps redirect air under the stock spoiler.

It can be unbolted, but you'll be left with some holes that need to be patched.

This is about the best link I can find, there's no tutorial. From what the owner of the 03 Sonic Yellow says, is there are holding clips much like the same hardware on the 04/05 STi corner splitters. Definitely have to take off the C pillar covers.
