Question Outback Outside Air Temp gauge in WRX?

Has anyone tried to put the Outback Sport gauge cluster (or gas/temp subcluster)
into a '02 WRX?
The service manual seems to show a "Custom CPU" feeding the OAT Display, but I don't know if the CPU is on the main cluster circuit board, or if it's part of the gas/temp gauge ($108 from the dealer).
If I need to swap the whole outback cluster into my WRX, does anyone know of a problem other than the different redline on the tach?

I'm too tall to look under those rearview mirrors w/ OAT
