Need advice on replacing window switch

Here's the lowdown,

My front passenger window switch does not work anymore. I can still roll the window up/down from the driver's side, but the passenger side switch does not work. Given the feedback/personal experience about our local dealers, I am NOT going to take it to Stevens Creek for the warranty work. That leaves Carlson and Santa Cruz, both are about 25 miles away in either direction. That makes it a ***** to drive over there, and get a ride home, then get a ride over there when the car is done. I have tried to find the part online, and I think I did, but there was no difference between drivers and passenger side. The only info the website had was 'window switch for 2004 impreza'. I can fix it myself if I can find the part, and it might be cheaper than driving 50 extra miles. WWYD?

Call up a dealership - they will give you the right part number. I realize that SubieGal is less than popular around here, but she hasn't gotten a part number wrong for me yet.

I'm sure Roo @ Marin Subaru could ship you the right part as well - he's gotten random stuff for me before, at good prices and quick service.

be prepapred for a sticker shock for that switch.

you may have to replace the ENTIRE switch assembly.

if it were me, i'd check the switch first. making sure it aint dirty like some dirt and junk fell in there and blocking the contacts or maybe the wiring aint bad...

Did you just use work and window switch replacement in the same sentence?

I fixed the problem by taking the switch apart. There are some little springs that move little metal ***** and where the ***** meet some copper arms to make the connection there was some carbon build up. A q-tip fixed the problem, but it took meforever to figure out how to put the switch back together. Toomany little metal ***** and springs that love to jump out.
