i got pulled over in sunset for tinted front windows. does anyone know how much it will cost to remove it? also what happens if i reapply the tint once i've "fixed" it and they catch me again? does anyone know how much the ticket will be then? i have 35% tint right now. has anyone been harrassed with 50% tint in the front?

do it yourself, the same thing happened to me and i did it myself. You can use a hair dryer ( or heat gun if you are l33t
) to help peel the tint off with the glue, then use windex to get the rest of the glue off. its really easier than you think.

Come on guys...
This takes about 30 minutes of your time, and doesn't require a bunch of crazy specialized chemicals.
You take a razor blade (safety razor) that you get from a boxcutter (usually a five pack for 99 cents), and you peel a tiny corner. Then you pull, slowly and gently, keeping the removed tint at a 90 degree angle to the window surface, and you should be fine.
If you get adhesive stuck to the window (from pulling too fast or whatnot), then you take a can of WD-40, spray the window, and use the razor to scrape it off. It takes no more than about 15-20 minutes per window. How do I know? We took the "Monique special" tint job off the Forester over the weekend, and had a PROFESSIONAL apply a new tint job. At least he won't say, "Bubbles don't JUST appear".
I did the back window (with the defroster), and including the time to remove the third brakelight, it took me about 50 minutes. Then I spent a little while detailing it to make sure I got EVERY LITTLE BIT of the residue off every square mm of the window.
Now the tint looks good once again.

if you want the best, safest glass cleaner for getting ANY gunk off glass, get a can of denatured alcohol. You can even use this stuff for debadging your car. It seriously is the best damn cleaner I have used on glass, nothing gets it cleaner.

I sprayed WD-40 on it, and started with a razor blade. I then re-applied WD40 after about 10 minutes, and let it soak for a little bit. Then I went back with the razor, and a lot of the adhesive came right up.
I simply scraped the razor across the surface of the window in a horizontal direction, with the razor held at a 45 degree angle. If you place your index finger behind the top part of the razor (dragging along the glass behind the razor blade), and your thumb on the center of the razor blade, you should have no problem. One other tip...don't cross more than one defroster line at a time.
I simply used the above technique to take off all of the tint from the rear window of the Forester, and the left rear quarter (which contains the window antenna), and have NO issues with reception. I still have to wait and see about issues with the defroster. When tested, it didn't seem to have any issues, however.
