I was thinking about getting into some serious performance mods on my car, and was wondering how much HP I would gain by sticking some LED light bulbs of assorted colors on various parts of my car. I was thinking about doing all red for my exhaust. That'd be cool, a dozen or so LED bulbs on the tip of my Kakimoto exhaust. That would surely intimidate all those Camaro SS's and Cobras I've been racing. Oh yeah....

 

my red LED windshield washer nozzle lights added about 10hp at the wheels. i heard you can gain 20hp with bigger bulbs.

 

unfortunately, LEDs defeat the purpose of adding lights to your car. the idea behind adding lights is that it heats the air around your car, allowing for less drag due to less dense air. meh...

 

i guess i understand the "warmer air, less dense, less drag" concept, but i hope we're just busting each others chops here....

 

your HP will drop because of the bulbs being above the intercooler and it will warm up the air going onto the intercooler. So i say a loss of 10hp.
