Gauges: Mechanical versus Electronic
I know that there are pluses and minuses or mechanical and electronic gauges. Mechanical is cheaper, but are they consistent? For things like oil temp/pressure elec. would probably be safer (if theres even a chance that hot oil could get in your cabin). I'm just totally clueless to all this stuff. I plan on modding my car, but I'm going to get the right gauges first...probably just boost and egt or oil pressure. Basically, I would like to know which kind of guages I should consider, and which specific gauges I should consider.
Thanks for any help!

For boost, either mechanical or electronic is fine. Mechanical will be cheaper. The optional factory boost gauge is a mechanical one.
For oil temp/pressure don't even consider mechanical gauges. As you mentioned with these there is the danger of hot pressurized oil leaking into the passenger compartment if a line to the gauge fails. Electronic gauges are safer and just as accurate.
