Electrical vs. Mechanical Gauges

Whats is better? getting the electrical or mechanical. Also what are some good gauges to get? I know Defi but there so expensive any cheaper ones that are still reliable.

electrical usually because you just pluggerin and thats it.

but mechanicals give you a more raw reading i guess? you really gotta get in and run the lines directly from the source to the guage.. usually the electrical will have a unit you hook everything up to and power it up to the battery.

electrical are usually 2-3x more expensive.

autometer offer very inexpensive mechanical gauges.. but if you're going for quality, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. just remember that and dont be cheap

mechanical gauges are risky. my buddy told me he had a friend that had a mechanical oil pressure gauge or something like that and when it malfunctioned, it sprayed oil all over the cabin and the driver.

This is why you DON'T want mechanical gauges for measuring any fluid temperatures or pressures. Go with electrical gauges for oil/coolant/fuel measurement.
For boost, either mechanical or electrical is fine.
