Defi control unit v2 below ashtray, how?

Defi control unit v2 below ashtray, how?
On the defi website, a WRX owner posted this picture.
How is this possible? Behind this area in my car there something there to prevent do this.

Anything is possible if you are willing to spend the money and time. I took a look at this and it does not look like an easy task.

I've actually communicated with the owner of this vehicle. Not as bad, but the air bag control module is right behind this area. In fact the defi control unit is velcro'd to the top of the air bag control module.
