another option is to hawk the FS forum for a local deal. you can save $200 if not more, depending on your luck.

IMHO There is no "good" fake JDM headlight option, as yet. And I dread the day APC starts selling replica JDM STI parts. Just be aware that you do get what you pay for....and please DO NOT be tempted by the "STI style" JDM headlights seen on ebay, ect. I have heard nothing but horror stories from the people that have purchased them
Good Luck!!

YESSSS!!!! please do not get the fake STi head lights. these are the WORST around. I was fortunate enough to get a set of EDM STi head lights out of a insurance deal though a body shop. i got mine form FastWRX.com, but i think they are over a thousand dollars. I would try to get them off of another member if possible in the For sale forum. These are one of the best ways to go as far as lighting goes. they stock bulbs in the STi lights are a little dim, but a set of SilverStar bulbs help out alot.

You'd at least save on shipping. And if it were like JDM goods, then yes, it'd be quite a bit cheaper. Importing middlemen like nothing more than to gouge avid enthusiast consumers (sorry to those honest vendors out there ).
Of course, I've haven't done much research outside of procuring the parts numbers, so I really can't say for sure on the pricing. Anyone up for a Teutonic holiday?

Osram Silverstars are excellent from what I've hear, but they're not available in the North America. You can get them while you're in Deutschland buying your EDM heads
The Sylvania's that we have here are overpriced and not too great; Sylvania bought off Osram and decided to use the name Silverstar to compete with PIAAs and Raybrigs here in the States. There's more info at Daniel Stern's website (the link is in my thread about helping me to understand aftermarket lighting). Happy shopping!

EDM projector headlamps are definitely not cheap, but the light output is improved over the US reflector headlamps and they do look good.

Expect around $950/pair. Add on about $50 for a pre-made "PnP harness" and another $170 for a headlamp leveler harness & switch. Wish I new those part numbers and that I hadn't already commited to a painful group buy(don't ask!) back when I was visiting Germany last year...

I'll second the recommendation for the Osram Silverstar bulbs. They are an improvement over the bulbs that came with my EDM's. You can order Osram & Philips bulbs online (shipped from the UK) from www.powerbulbs.com . I've had very good dealings with them, YMMV.

The beam pattern of the projector low beams seems pretty sensitive to aim as compared to the '02-'03 reflector headlamps...ensuring that they are properly aimed will help their light output tremendously. See AutoOptiks or Daniel Stern Lighting for E-code headlamp aiming procedures.

Brent.
