Another 12v power source?

Are there any other 12v sources i can tap into other than the positive terminal of my battery? Im running a few electrical applications like sprayer etc. and i don't want those wires to run through my firewall because it's causing too much clutter.

thanks, eric

Is this a wagon? If not an you don't have two pumps in the washer fluid tank, you will see a plug just hanging out there doing nothing by the one pump you do have. That is normally for the rear washer pump. I used that wire for headlamp washers. You can find one of the ends under the dash and when you ground it (using a switch) you can have a power source for a relay or something w/o running wires here and there through the fire wall.

Have a look in this thread:

The info is in there somewhere. If you have a wagon then well, nevermind

Thanks Peaty good idea but i'd still be running wires through the fire wall. Is there any way i can tap into the cigarette lighter? any "how to" instructions on that perhaps?

thanks, eric

For going through the fire wall AFAIK all scoobies have this spot:

And yes I like using the cig lighter spot too, taking your dash off will be different but here is how I did mine:

If you have a WRX look here for how to get the dash off to get to the lighter wires:

I think im going to go with your second option seeing how my ic sprayer switches are mounted by the e-brake. Is it possible to tap the positive wire twice for two switches? Or maybe tap it once with a long piece of wire, then tap that wire twice? there's plenty of power in that wire right Peaty? im not going to loose power going to the lighter socket am I?

I wouldn't put too many things on the same wire.

If you plan on hooking up a lot of switches then I would run one good sized wire from the battery through the firewall, then you could hook up all of the leads to that. Your cig lighter may not be able to handle a huge load.
