Question '04 suby headlamp orange insert removal

does anyone know the best technique to get those ugly orange inserts out of the stock 2004 light fixtures? ive heard oven for 15 minutes @ 200 degrees, and ive heard heat gun.

Either one will work fine, but putting them in the oven is definately easier. I used a heat gun before I realized that I could use the oven and it was a PITA. It still worked, it just took me a long time.

I actually was successful with 4 sets of headlights using a hairdryer and cutting the silicone. Its not as hot as a heatgun and definately has no risk of warping the casing as is possible with the plastic. You will need to get a new tube of black silicone though, since you would have to cut out a considerable amount of the stock silicone.

This is ofcourse very time consuming, but if you have time and is a little hesistant about using an oven, that may do the trick.

I have done two sets of lights. I believe that nothing could be easier than the oven technique. You can work on one light while the other is warming. Saves mucho time.
