i have an 06 2.5i and i was wondering how i should rotate my tires. my front ones definitely show more wear than the ones in the rear so maybe switch them. and do i need to rebalance them afterwards.

any tips help

 

Front to rear - rear to front. Radials don't need to be crossed from side to side. Rebalance isn't a bad idea, but not necessary. I rotate my tires every other oil change to keep a schedule, but never rebalance 'em. I'd say if you don't have a vibration @ highway speeds don't worry about it & save your money. Be sure to use a torque wrench & torque the lug nuts. Just my 2 cents.

Rotation every other oil change (like before mentioned) is an easy interval to remember. Front to Back rotaion is also fine for most street tires/street use also.
When I had access to tire equipment I used to re-balance every other rotaion (it was free why not) but that was excessive.
Honestly, you could re-balance once a year or so (or even every other year) and be on top of things or just wait until you notice a slight vibration and get it balanced before you put too many miles on. It depends on the tires, your driving, and some other things.

Now if your a frequent track goer - you're going to go through tires quicker and a little out of banance isn't going to bother you any.

 

as was listed just front to rear and rear to front however i DO recomend a balancing, in balanced tires can cause weird wear on things you really dont want to wear like your wheel hubwhich leads to rotor warping as well and overall worse handling. torque to 100lbs on all lug nuts ALWAYS, its actually law(in FL at least) for any shop that does a tire job or has to remove the wheels to torque the lugs to 100 lbs.

 

100?! i always do mines to 80lb

 

+1 for 80 lbs, per the owner's manual BTW. It doesn't take much to warp the rotors nowadays by lugs being overtorqued.

 

ill have to look into that im in school for auto service tech they told me 100lbs and that its law in Fl to do so.

 

Yeah we used to use 100lbs as a general torque when I used to be tech.

 

subarus factory tire rotation is rear to front.fronts crossed backed to rears.torque spec is 70 ft lbs.over tightening will cause stud stress and rotor/hub warpage.

Except that many, if not most, performance street tires these days have directional tread. If you want to swap sides you need to remount the tires. Too much humbug. Unless I misinterpreted the "crossed" part of your post.
