DIY Rear Strut Cross Brace
I came across this searching for some new chassis parts. The price of $125 seemed ridiculous so I decided to make my own from parts I got at Home Depot for roughly $100 (without shipping) cheaper.
The parts I bought were:
4) 3/8"x2" neoprene washers
2) 3/8"x1.5" neoprene washers
2) 10" turnbuckles
2) 3/8"x2" Grade 8 bolts with nuts
1) 6' long security cable 3/16" diameter
10) 3/8"x2" fender washers
2) sets of 3/16" cable clamps
small length of 1/4" vacuum hose
The bolts for the bottom where the lower LATCH system is are a little too short so you'll need two bolts that are about 1/2" longer as well. As for instructions I just followed the ones on the site linked above.
After a test drive I noticed that the rear end seemed to be more solid feeling but I have yet to really push it and see how it does.

Not sure exactly how that works? A strut bar uses one strut tower to PUSH on the other one. That thing basically just "pre-loads" the rear deck making it a little stiffer, but IMO, doesn't really resist the lateral flex across the car since everything still pivots.

Triangulation. How effective it is is questionable. I made one and didn't notice much, the rear deck did become more stiff with it installed. It might help more on cars with higher miles.
